(September 5, 2018) – USA Cycling announced today the athletes that will represent the United States in both the Junior and U23 Time Trial and Road Race at the 2018 UCI Road World Championships taking place in Innsbruck-Tirol, Austria 23-30 September 2018.
Among the competitors are several 2018 National Champions, crowned at the USA Cycling National Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. and Hagerstown Md.: Katie Clouse (Park City, Utah; DNA Cycling), Abigail Youngwerth (Boise, Idaho; Sho-Air Twenty-Twenty Development), Riley Sheehan (Boulder, Colo.; Lux Cycling), Gage Hecht (Parker, Colo.; Aevolo Cycling), Jonathan Brown (Knoxville, Tenn; Hagens Berman Axeon), and Alex Hoehn (Lenexa, Kan.; Aevolo Cycling).
“We have an exceptional group of Junior and U23 athletes ready to go for road worlds this year,” Said Jeff Pierce, Director of Elite Athletics, Road and Track. “They have been producing some impressive international results all summer and I have no doubt they will continue that trend in Austria against the world’s best. We will be very excited to see them pull on the stars and stripes jerseys in a few weeks and show the world what they can do.”
