Giro d’Italia: Italy
(May 6-28) – Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) captured his first-ever grand tour stage win, outsprinting his breakaway group of three on Stage 15 at the Tour of Italy. It was the biggest win of the 25-year-old’s pro career, and just the 12th time an American has won a Giro stage.
McNulty also placed 8th in the Stage 1 Time Trial. After two weeks of racing and with another six stages to go, American Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) is in 20th place overall, the highest-placing on GC of the six US riders in the race.

Bretagne Ladies Tour: France
(May 9-13) – Lily Williams (Human Powered Health) took 10th overall at the Bretagne Ladies Tour, a five-stage, 528 kilometer race through Brittany.

Women’s World Tour, Vuelta a Burgos Feminas: Spain
(May 18-21) – Chloé Dygert (Canyon/SRAM Racing) continued her strong comeback to pro racing with a 4th place overall at the Vuelta a Burgos. Over the course of 4 stages and 470 kilometers, Dygert placed 3rd on stage 1 and was 2nd on stage 2. It was her second stage race this season and comes after she missed much of the past two years of racing due to illness and injuries.

Tour of Japan: Sakai-Tokyo, Japan
(May 21-28) – Luke Lamperti (Trinity Racing) took first in the opening time trial and 5thon Stage 2 at Tour of Japan. The 8-stage race, which includes a climb up Mount Fuji, ends May 28 with an eight-lap circuit race in Tokyo.

UCI MTB World Cup: Nové Město, Czech Republic
(May 12-14) – UCI MTB World Cup racing kicked off with a gold-medal winning performance from Andelyn (Andie) Aagard (Bear National Team), who took 1st in the Junior Women’s XCO race. Aagard came in 47 seconds ahead of her nearest rival.
In the first-ever U23 Short Track World Cup, Riley Amos (Trek Factory Racing XC) captured a podium spot with his 2nd place, while Bjorn Riley (Trek Future Racing) was 4th. Haley Batten (Specialized Factory Racing) placed 6th in the XCC Elite Women’s race, and Madigan Munro took 9th in the Women’s U23 race.

(May 20-21) – Daniel English placed 4th in Junior Men’s XCO race, while Brayden Johnson placed 8th and Carson Beard took 10th in the U23 Men’s XCO race.

Pan American Continental BMX Championship: Riobamba, Ecuador
(May 20) – Kamren Larsen (Haro Bikes) won the Elite Men’s BMX Racing Pan American Championships held in Ecuador scoring crucial Olympic Qualifying points for the BMX team. This was the fifth continental title this season across all the disciplines for Team USA.
BMX FREESTYLE
BMX Freestyle World Cup: Montpellier, France
(May 17-21) – The rain brought a bit of chaos to the event causing several delays throughout the week, but finals still went on. Hannah Roberts (Hyper BMX) scored silver and Marcus Christopher (DK Bicycles) earned bronze in Round 2 of the UCI BMX Freestyle World Cup Park finals. In the elite women’s event, Roberts was followed by Perris Benegas (Haro BMX) in 4th and Chelsea Wolfe (GT Bicycles) in 8th. Christopher placed 3rd and Jacob Thiem (Free Agent Bikes) was 8th in the Men’s Elite Park final.
With Olympic Qualification points on the line, the third round takes place July 6-9 in Brussels.
