Tropical Mountain Bike Challenge and Puerto Rico MTB Cup: Puerto Rico
(February 25-26 and March 4-5) – Gwendalyn Gibson (Trek Factory Racing) scored three wins over two weekends, winning the Elite Women’s XCO (twice) and XCC race in the season-opening UCI XCO series in Puerto Rico. Hannah Otto (Pivot/DT Swiss) took two podium spots over the two weekends, placing second in XCC and third in XCO the first weekend.
On the Elite Men’s side, Riley Amos (Trek Factory Racing XC) raced to third in both XCO and XCC the first weekend, and placed fifth a week later in XCO.
U.S. juniors scored podium spots on the first weekend of racing, with Ellie Krafft taking second, followed by Madeline Fisher (4th), Mackenzie Spillman (6th), and Phoebee Nelson (7th).
Landen Stovall finished third on the junior men’s side, followed by Luke Mosteller (4th), Colin ONeil (9th), and Landon Dendy (10th).
On the second weekend, women’s junior Abigail Pruyn race to third, with Mackenzie Spillman,Madeline Fisher, Alice Hoskins, Phoebee Nelson, Stella Scholz, Ashlee Hogge, and Isabella Donnelly placing 4th-10th. On the men’s junior side, Ezra Caudell was 6th, followed by Luke Mosteller (7th), and Colin ONeil in 9th.

ROAD
Paris-Nice: France
(March 5-12) – Neilson Powless (EF Education-EasyPost) placed 6th overall and Matteo Jorgenson(Movistar) was 8th for a strong U.S. showing at Paris-Nice. Powless was 7th in Points and wore the King of the Mountains jersey for a day, while Jorgenson placed 2nd in the young rider category, followed by Kevin Vermaerke (Team DSM) in 6th.
Over the course of the 7-stage, 1,000 kilometer race (one day was cancelled due to dangerous winds), Powless had three, top-6 placings.

Tirreno-Adriatico: Italy
(March 6-12) – Magnus Sheffield (INEOS Grenadiers) and Brandon McNulty (UAE Team Emirates) took 3rd and 5th on the opening time trial of the 7-stage ‘race of the two seas.’
McNulty placed 12th overall and 2nd among young riders. Sheffield placed 6th among young riders, while Quinn Simmons (Trek-Segafredo) was 6th in the mountain category.

BMX RACING
USA Cycling Collegiate BMX National Championships: Bakersfield, Calif.
(March 10-12) – Marian University (Indianapolis) won their eighth Collegiate BMX National title. Korie Gilbert (Lindsey Wilson College) and Joey Leto (Lindenwood University) captured the individual titles after two day of racing at the USA BMX series in Bakersfield, Calif.
