Racing Begins in Reno for 2018 #CXNats

Five non-championship events opened the week of competitions, giving athletes a chance to test the course.

Rain showers greeted competitors throughout the day on a tough and challenging course set just north of downtown Reno. The men’s 23-39 non-championship event started at noon and was won for the second year in a row by Jack Kisseberth (Easthampton, Mass./JAM Fund-NCC), finishing the race in 23:18.

The women’s 23-39 and 40+ non-championship events were won by Wilhelmina Zuckerman (Trabuco Canyon, Calif./unattached) in 31:34 and Katerina Nash (Emeryville, Calif./Clif Pro Team) 25:32, respectively.

The men’s 40-49 non-championship event was taken by Justin Thomas (Reno Nev./Reno Tahoe Junior Cycling) in 24:25. Day One of the 2018 USA Cyclocross National Championships concluded with Victor Sheldon (Vista, Calif./unattached) powering to victory in 25:30 in the men’s 50+ non-championship race.
