In cross-country, Christopher Blevins (Durango, Colo.), our reigning short-track cross country national champion walked away with a silver medal in the U23 cross country race. Kate Courtney (San Francisco, Calif.) took the bronze in the elite short track cross-country race and also a 6th place in the elite cross-country race. Haley Batten (Park City, Utah) and Savilia Blunk (Inverness, Calif.) came in 6th and 9th place respectively in the U23 cross country race. Erin Huck (Boulder, Colo.), reigning short-track national champion, placed 6th in the short track cross-country race.
Meanwhile in downhill, our newly crowned national champion Samantha Soriano (Littleton, Colo.) took home the silver in the Junior Women’s race with Mazie Hayden (North Clarendon, Vt.) earning bronze and Kaytlin Melvin (Sammamish, Wash.) placing 6th. Zach Gareis (Mars, Penn.) took 10th in the Junior Men’s Race. In the Elite Men’s race, Luca Shaw (Hendersonville, N.C.) and Charlie Harrison (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) came in 6th and 7th places respectively.
“It was a great weekend for USA riders at the Mont-Saint-Anne World Cup. It’s a good sign for our USA team heading toward the World Championships next month in Lenzerheide,” said Marc Gullickson, Performance Director for Mountain Bike at USA Cycling, “With the depth and talent of our Worlds team I’m expecting our riders to contest for podiums across all categories and disciplines in Switzerland as we did in Canada last weekend.”
The final Mountain Bike World Cup will be held August 24-26th in La Bresse, France followed by the UCI Mountain Bike World Championships September 5-9th, 2018 in Lenzerheide, Switzerland where Team USA will be sending 42 athletes.
