Become an Olympic Hopeful

Scouting Camp: The Next Olympic Hopeful Season 2 airs November 24th on the Olympic Channel at 9pm EST and on November 25th at 3pm EST. Watch as 90 athletes compete for spots in the national team pipeline among eight different Olympic sports including USA Cycling’s Sprint Track Cycling program.

If you think you have what it takes to become an Olympian in Sprint Cycling, USA Cycling has many different opportunities to get started. Sprint Track Cycling takes place on a velodrome, an oval track with banked corners that is constructed specifically for cycling events. There are many different velodromes around the United States that run programs for new cyclists. For information on a program near you, or more information on how to get started on your Olympic journey, contact Travis Smith at USA Cycling’s Olympic Training Site- the VELO Sports Center velodrome in Carson, California.

If you are already a competitive track cyclist aged 15 to 21 years old, you may compete for a place on the USA Cycling Olympic Development Program (ODP). Any competitive track cyclists can qualify for support through the USA Cycling National Team. Information on the ODP or the National Team program can be found on the USA Cycling Track pathway page here.

To become a great athlete, you’ll need a great coach. USA Cycling has over 1600 certified coaches, all of which are background checked and SafeSport certified, and many of whom specialize in track cycling. To find a coach in your area you can use the USA Cycling Find-a-Coach tool.

Whether you are a future Olympian or just want to have fun, USA Cycling has a way for you to get started racing in any discipline. Ride with us!
